Summer 2013

What did you study in college?

Advertising with a minor in enterprise studies

What did you like the most about your intern experience?

I liked having hands on experience… everything that I was working on was actually going to be used in some way by the company or by their clients so it made me feel appreciated while also learning a lot.

What made you want to come back?

I loved the company culture- everyone is friends with everyone and working here is fun! I also liked working for a start up because it’s so dynamic and you ultimately have a say in where the company is going.

What advice would you give to future interns?

-Take a look at any of your coworkers’/previous interns’ work and figure out what is good about it and what you can do to further improve your work..

-Ask for advice both on your work you will be doing at the company and on how to apply it to your future and what your next steps should be.

Summer 2011

What did you study in college?

Journalism with a focus in Advertising and Public Relations. I also minored in Spanish and spent a semester in Valencia, Spain.

What did you like the most about your intern experience?

I enjoyed being able to spend so much time writing, and doing it for a variety of interesting clients. I felt the experience really improved my writing skills! I also loved the culture. Even during my internship, when the company was so small, it was a fun and laid-back environment to work in.

What made you want to come back?

I wanted to come back and work for SocialCentiv because I felt it was a company doing something that hasn’t been done before, and being able to be a part of that from the beginning was an opportunity not offered by many other places. I also already knew I enjoyed what my day-to-day responsibilities would be, and of course the people that work here are what make the job so incredible!

What advice would you give to future interns?

Don’t just show up, do your to-do list, and leave. Make an effort to truly become a part of the team! Not only will you enjoy your experience so much more, but you will be remembered and have a better chance of coming back to join full-time!

claraWhen did you intern?

I interned from August 2011 to December 2011 and then freelanced until March 2012 when I officially joined the team.

What did you study in college?

In college, my major was English with a minor in Business Administration.

What did you like the most about your intern experience?

I like how hands-on the internship was in that what I wrote was published on clients' blogs. I also loved the atmosphere and helping to make the first SocialCentiv music video by rewriting the lyrics and showing off my awesome dance moves!

What made you want to come back?

I wanted to come back because I saw a growing company with vision, creativity, and commitment and I wanted to be apart of that story!

What advice would you give to future interns?

To future interns, I would say come in with an open mind and willingness to try everything. Also, don’t be afraid to take initiative. If you hear about a meeting you would like to be apart of, ask to join in! See a project you’d like to learn about? Ask questions! Internships are your opportunity to soak up information and learn new skills, so be sure to take advantage of that.

Fall 2011 (with Clara!)

What did you study in college?

Communications with a focus in Public Relations and a minor in Business Administration

What did you like the most about your intern experience?

I enjoyed how much responsibility I was given! It was also encouraging to see my work displayed on our client's websites and blogs.

What made you want to come back?

I was super fortunate to have such an exciting and educational internship. Not only did my mentor invite me to attend various meetings with her, but she also encouraged me to give my feedback and share my ideas for future campaigns. That was a pretty big deal for me.

What advice would you give to future interns?

I would encourage them to work hard and think outside the box, even when it doesn't seem like it's possible. I remember having to juggle my time between being a full-time student and a part-time intern. It was tough work, but it definitely taught me how to handle pressure and prioritize. Also, I would encourage interns to always ask questions!

nickiWhen did you intern?

I interned during the summer of 2013 from May-August.

What did you study in college?

I studied Communication Design in the Graphic Design focus at UNT.

What did you like the most about your intern experience?

I was treated as a real designer and not as a student designer. I created work that was actually used for the company.

What made you want to come back?

Working here I get more responsibility and opportunities to design than if I had started out anywhere else.

What advice would you give to future interns?

Work hard and do your best because others will notice and that is what they will remember about you.

Journalism/PR at UNT

What did you like the most about your intern experience?

I loved that we were able to see how our work was helping the clients and the company. It was cool to see the blogs I wrote on our clients' websites and the eBook I wrote during my internship being displayed on the company website.

What made you want to come back?

The people, the product, and the company culture. It's a fun, creative place to work, and it's filled with so many different people and skill sets - it's an exciting place.

What advice would you give to future interns?

Work hard, get as much out of your internship as you can, and use it to figure out what you really want to do.
